Golden Knights Rebound Behind Hill to Stifle Canucks
The Vegas Golden Knights returned to form with a win over the Vancouver Canucks, anchored by goaltender Adin Hill and a collective response to adversity.
Adin Hill stood in the crease for his first start of the season. staring down the final frame with a narrow lead to protect. He surrendered a goal he felt he should have stopped. but the immediate response from his teammates ensured the momentum didn’t shift. By the time the final buzzer sounded. Hill had recorded 18 saves. steering the Golden Knights to a win that wiped away the sting of a Friday loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
“Obviously, the second goal there, I got to have that one back, but the guys responded well and scored the next shift, which was huge,” Hill said after the game. “Got us a lead back right away and we closed her out from there.”
For the Golden Knights, now holding a 2-1-0 record, the night was defined by that resilience. Mitch Marner and Victor Olofsson provided the offensive support needed to keep the team in control, while Gatcomb contributed to the effort that kept the Vancouver Canucks at bay.
On the other side of the ice. the Canucks entered the matchup at 2-2-0. coming off a victory against the Calgary Flames just one night prior. Paul Cotter, who recorded a goal in the contest, faced 25 saves from goaltender Kevin Lankinen. Despite the loss, Cotter expressed pride in a squad he believes has been unfairly dismissed by critics.
“For a team that everybody in the world has said. ‘This team is going to be last in the League. ’ I’m pretty happy with how we’ve been doing. ” Cotter said. “We have a great group. I’ve said it 10 times, but we have a very egoless group. We have a mix of older, younger guys and guys in between, and a lot of skill. And when you have a room that’s that close and willing to get better together. that can take you so far. So, we’ve battled. We’ve had a couple great teams we’ve played against here early. and we’re going to continue to try to be better.”.
Hill’s performance in the third period—where he stopped nine shots—cemented the outcome. The game serves as a clear recalibration for Vegas, proving they can bounce back from a loss with a disciplined defensive effort.
