Brockton Man Charged Months After Holbrook Teen Hit-and-Run

Holbrook hit – A 66-year-old man faces charges after a months-long investigation into a hit-and-run that left a 15-year-old injured.

The walk home from a bus stop on September 16 changed in an instant for a 15-year-old in Holbrook. Around 2:30 p.m. that afternoon, the teenager was struck on North Shore Road by a driver who did not stop, leaving the scene behind.

Nearly two months later, police have finally identified the person behind the wheel. A 66-year-old man from Brockton, whose name has not been released, now faces a charge of leaving the scene of personal injury.

The investigation relied on a combination of digital footprints and community assistance. Detectives began by scouring surveillance footage from the area. which captured a charcoal-colored Chrysler minivan pulling away from the crash site. By isolating a partial license plate from the video. investigators were able to use license plate reader cameras to piece together the vehicle’s movements on the day of the incident.

This trail led them to a 2020 Chrysler Voyager. When officers finally tracked down the minivan, they found damage consistent with the collision that had injured the teenager weeks prior.

“The public played an important role in helping our detectives piece together what happened and ultimately identify the vehicle and driver. ” Holbrook Police Chief David Del Papa said. “We received valuable surveillance footage and information from the community. and our detectives followed each lead and used every investigative resource available to them.”.

The evidence gathered from local cameras and tips proved essential in building the case, turning a series of leads into a formal charge. The accused driver is now scheduled to appear for arraignment at the Quincy District Court on November 4.
