A class action filed by Bank of America accountholders took aim at the way the bank charges for using 7-Eleven ATMs. and the dispute is now headed toward a payout.. Bank of America has agreed to a $2.25 million settlement to resolve claims that it charged multiple out-of-network balance inquiry fees in a single visit.

The settlement is aimed at accountholders who were assessed more than one out-of-network balance inquiry fee during the same trip to an FCTI ATM in a 7-Eleven store. The relevant period runs from May 1, 2018, to Nov. 16, 2021.

At the center of the lawsuit is the allegation that Bank of America breached its contract with customers by charging more than one fee for balance inquiries at 7-Eleven ATMs. The plaintiffs say they were charged two out-of-network fees for a single balance inquiry.

Bank of America, a national bank with ATMs at various locations including convenience stores such as 7-Eleven, has not admitted any wrongdoing. Still, it agreed to settle the case for $2.25 million to resolve the litigation.

Under the settlement terms, class members can receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of claims filed. No payment estimates are available at this time.

Eligibility turns on whether someone is currently a Bank of America accountholder. Current accountholders do not need to file a claim to receive settlement benefits. Former accountholders must file a claim, and the claim form is available on the settlement website.

Deadlines are set for several key steps. The claim form deadline is June 29, 2026. The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 7, 2026. The court’s final approval hearing for the Bank of America settlement is scheduled for Aug. 21, 2026.
