Walmart Launches Combined Membership Bundle for Plus and Sam’s Club Services

Walmart has introduced a new membership bundle that combines its Walmart Plus program with Sam’s Club Plus, marking a direct competitive push against major rivals Amazon and Costco. The retail giant announced on Tuesday that the combined package will be available for $120 per year.
Under the new structure, existing Sam’s Club Plus members will effectively receive Walmart Plus at no additional cost. Meanwhile, current Walmart Plus subscribers can upgrade to include the premium-level warehouse club membership for an extra $22 annually.
In a statement announcing the rollout, Walmart CEO John Furner pointedly referenced the separate costs associated with competing services. He noted that consumers often pay distinct fees for retail and warehouse club memberships, citing $139 for a retail delivery subscription and $130 for a traditional warehouse club.
The offering underscores an ongoing strategy by Walmart to expand overlapping perks across its retail and warehouse divisions. Both membership tiers currently share several benefits, including streaming entertainment options, pharmacy services, and specialized deals from partner businesses.
A central feature for members of both programs is an expanding fast-delivery network designed to fulfill orders directly from local retail stores and warehouse clubs. According to the company, deliveries can arrive in as little as 30 minutes, with some orders reaching customers in fewer than 10 minutes.
Financial analysts have pointed to the bundle as evidence of the retailer’s broader effort to drive customer retention within its ecosystem. A note from Mizuho analyst David Bellinger described the offering as a signal that the company is pushing additional value into its network while highlighting its rapid delivery capabilities.
While Walmart does not publicly disclose exact membership totals or fee revenue figures, estimates from Mizuho suggest that the retail division has approximately 25 million Walmart Plus members, compared to 30 million members at Sam’s Club. The financial institution estimates that about 10 percent of consumers hold subscriptions to both services.
By comparison, major competitors maintain significantly larger standalone membership bases on a global scale. Costco reported having more than 150 million membership cardholders worldwide, while Amazon’s Prime subscriber base is estimated to exceed 220 million members.
