Podcast Host Alex Cooper and Husband Matt Kaplan Welcome Their First Child

Podcast host and media entrepreneur Alex Cooper has welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with her husband, film producer Matt Kaplan. Cooper, the 31-year-old creator of the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” announced the birth on Tuesday by sharing an Instagram photo of the infant resting in a fuzzy gray outfit with his face kept out of frame, accompanied simply by a blue heart caption.

The arrival marks a new chapter for the couple, who first went public with the pregnancy in May through an Instagram slideshow that debuted Cooper’s baby bump alongside the caption “Our family.” The following month, Cooper opened up to her listeners about the timing of their growing family, explaining that the desire to become a mother intensified after she and Kaplan had spent time traveling and accomplishing specific personal and professional goals.

During a podcast episode, Cooper recalled telling her partner that starting a family felt like the missing piece in their lives. She broke the news to Kaplan by handing him a positive pregnancy test, telling him she hoped he liked his gift because it was non-refundable. According to Cooper, Kaplan looked entirely shocked before they both broke down in tears, sharing a quiet, emotional moment of hugging and kissing before enjoying what she described as an incredible night she will forever cherish.

The couple’s path together began in 2020, when they first met on a Zoom call before starting a relationship following a business dinner. Kaplan proposed to Cooper in 2023, and the Unwell Network co-founders officially married during an April 2024 ceremony in Mexico.

Prior to their pregnancy announcement, Cooper had addressed public speculation regarding her marriage, dismissing internet rumors that their relationship was struggling as an odd and unenjoyable part of public life, noting that no one in their immediate circle or family ever questioned the strength of their bond.

In discussing her family planning on her podcast, Cooper had previously noted in 2025 that she was not yet ready to have children at that exact time, emphasizing that she wanted to first prioritize her relationship with Kaplan, focus heavily on her career, and take time for herself before feeling fully prepared to tackle motherhood.
