JPMorgan Chase Invests $5 Billion in U.S. National Security and Resiliency Firms

JPMorgan Chase announced that it has invested $5 billion into companies that support United States national security through its Security and Resiliency Initiative (SRI). The funding represents the initial deployment of the bank’s broader $10 billion equity allocation for the program, which operates under the firm’s Strategic Investment Group.
The bank originally launched the $1.5 trillion SRI last year alongside a wider commitment to finance and facilitate long-term economic resilience and industrial strength. According to the institution, the initiative has financed and facilitated over $230 billion to bolster industries, supply chains, and technologies deemed critical to national security.
“Strong economies and national security don’t happen by accident. They require investment in critical infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, defense and innovation, as well as policies that encourage growth,” said JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon. He noted that the initiative brings together capital, expertise, and convening power to strengthen the workforce and supply chains supporting economic prosperity.
The Strategic Investment Group deploys the bank’s capital into enterprises with long-term strategic significance, utilizing direct equity investments within the SRI framework. During its first year of operation, the program directed its $5 billion commitment toward venture, growth, and later-stage companies to accelerate growth, drive innovation, and expand domestic manufacturing capacity.

Recent investments under the initiative have targeted next-generation defense technologies, distributed battery storage, automated manufacturing systems, and frontier technologies. Todd Combs, head of the Strategic Investment Group, emphasized the bank’s long-term outlook. Our approach is to find generational companies and partner with them for the long term, Combs said, adding that the swift deployment of $5 billion in the first year demonstrates the depth of businesses building solutions for the economy and security.
The broader $230 billion in transactions facilitated by the SRI over the past year spans five core focus areas. These financial activities have supported defense technology firms and manufacturers scaling their operations, provided financing for suppliers vital to the defense industrial base, and directed capital into next-generation nuclear and geothermal energy projects.
Additional transactions have expanded domestic capacity for critical minerals and metals, advanced artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and quantum computing capabilities, and reinforced critical medicine production and supply chains.
As the Security and Resiliency Initiative enters its second year, JPMorgan Chase outlined plans to translate value-chain insights into broader action. The firm intends to support companies capable of expanding critical capacity, develop financial structures to make strategic projects viable, bolster supplier and workforce ecosystems, and expand cross-border policy coordination.
