Jeremy Saulnier and A24 Debut First Trailer for Thriller Slayground

Writer-director Jeremy Saulnier is returning to the screen with a new project following the success of Rebel Ridge, partnering with A24 for the upcoming thriller Slayground. The studio has released the first trailer for the film, offering an initial look at a narrative centered around a dark incident at a haunted attraction and the subsequent fallout for those involved.
The newly released footage establishes the film’s central mystery by focusing on a convict named Michael, played by Cory Michael Smith. In the story, Michael is forced to confront the memories of Halloween 2024, a night at the titular haunted attraction where he was employed that culminated in multiple fatalities, a police standoff involving a SWAT team, and Michael fleeing authorities. The trailer raises the core question of whether Michael was responsible for the violence or if he was framed by the true perpetrator, a mystery that he and other local residents attempt to unravel.
Alongside Smith, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Chase Sui Wonders, Young Mazino, and Stephen Root.
Slayground was originally slated for a fall release before A24 decided to shift the debut back by several months. While theatrical audiences may have previously caught glimpses of promotional material attached to screenings of Resident Evil, the studio ultimately adjusted the schedule. This delay may have been intended to give other titles space or to create separation from Onslaught, another feature involving masked killers and a high body count. The rescheduled timeline positions Slayground as an early entry in the horror releases slated for the beginning of 2027, with a theatrical release date currently set for January 29, 2027.
