Zelenskyy Reports Massive Russian Strikes on Ukraine Energy Infrastructure

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched one of its most powerful strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing widespread blackouts and infrastructure damage across multiple regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia carried out one of its most powerful attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, targeting facilities in Luck, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. The strikes also caused damage to energy installations in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, along with other parts of the country.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, parts of the population were left without electricity following the bombardment, though repair crews successfully restored power to more than half a million consumers. The ministry noted that repair work is proceeding wherever the security situation allows, though ongoing air raid alarms and the threat of renewed attacks continue to complicate efforts.

Addressing the broader situation, Zelenskyy pointed to a recent order by United States President Donald Trump to postpone the implementation of several sanctions against Moscow. He noted that the decision effectively bypassed legislation championed by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, which was intended to exert real pressure on Russia to end the war.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia attacked overnight using ballistic and cruise missiles, alongside 332 Shahed-type strike drones, including 31 jet-powered models. Local authorities in Kherson, Sloviansk, and Sumy also reported aerial bombardments utilizing guided aviation bombs.

In Sumy, a strike resulted in one fatality and two injuries, while an attack on Kherson injured at least 22 people and damaged multiple residential buildings and a supermarket. The military administration in Sloviansk confirmed that an attack on two apartment buildings killed one person and wounded ten others.
