Golden State Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase collapsed with 1:40 remaining in her team’s elimination Game 3 matchup against the Dallas Wings on Friday.
Nakase was speaking with the referees about a no-call on Valkyries star Gabby Williams after a made lay-up when she suddenly collapsed. She was immediately helped up by a trio of Golden State assistant coaches.
“Natalie Nakase having some sort of an episode on the floor for Golden State,” explained ESPN play-by-play Ryan Ruocco when seeing footage of her fall. “Did she slip perhaps, going out onto the floor?”

Nakase missed the first few moments of her team’s pregame huddle but eventually snuck in to get some coaching in.
She was alert and on the sideline as her Valkyries team completed its 16-point comeback to seal the 77-73 victory and win the franchise’s first-ever WNBA playoff series.
