Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Linked to Shocking NFC Contender

With it appearing likely that the Miami Dolphins will part ways with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, some intriguing potential destinations are emerging, including an NFC contender.
Tagovaila joined Miami as their No. 5 overall pick in 2020, and although he’s been part of several brief playoff runs, the team has failed to advance far. After this latest season ended with no postseason appearance, the team decided to fire Mike McDaniel as head coach in favor of Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
There also appears to be a strong chance the team will no longer keep Tagovailoa as their star quarterback, which could mean a trade is forthcoming. A recent conversation with Adam Schefter shed light on where fans might see the CFP National Champion at Alabama play next.

“If I’m Kyler Murray and Tua Tagovailoa, Green Bay would be appealing to me,” Schefter said on 94.5 ESPN Milwaukee’s “Jen, Gabe, and Chewy” show.
Schefter explained that the Packers already have a “good organization and good system with good talented players” there. He indicated that Murray, Tagovailoa, or whoever might go there could “take a year to decompress” and learn while they “see things from a different perspective.”
ESPN’s NFL insider went on to explain that both players are likely interested in playing wherever they go, which probably wouldn’t be the case with the Packers. However, he said, if they’re unable to find an ideal opportunity with another team, Green Bay makes a lot of sense for both Murray and Tagovailoa.
There are already plenty of quarterback rumors swirling in the offseason, with teams highly interested in Packers’ backup Malik Willis. He filled in admirably for Jordan Love when the Packers’ star QB was out of action for several games due to injury.
New Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan seemed to confirm that the team would look towards a new QB as they move forward.
Miami would prefer to trade Tagovailoa to avoid taking a dead cap hit, which could be near $99 million if they were to release him before June. However, they’d need to find a team willing to assume the $54 million owed to him under his contract, which could pose a challenge for the Dolphins.
It would be surprising to see Tagovailoa land on the Packers. Still, as Schefter mentioned, it could make sense as a suitable spot for him to learn as a backup and prepare for another team, or even take over as a starter should Love suffer another injury.
