MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Memphis police officer is seriously injured following a shooting Thursday night, according to sources with the Memphis Police Department.

A plethora of law enforcement vehicles remain stationed at Regional One Hospital hours after the officer was injured around 8:15 p.m. in the area in Parkway Village.

A massive law enforcement presence was most saturated along South Perkins Road near Cottonwood Road.

Unofficial sources with the police force say that the officer was shot, and that the suspected shooter remains at large.

This area is currently on lockdown, and residents are not being allowed to pass through.

I-240 was briefly shut down as the officer was rushed to the hospital.

An official department spokesperson says the officer is currently fighting for their life, but remains stable.

Other police sources say the officer is expected to survive.
