Police shoot person near elementary school
WALNUT CREEK — At least one Walnut Creek police officer shot a person early Thursday near an elementary school, authorities said.
Few details were available. In a statement, police said the shooting happened in the area of Alvarado Avenue and Buena Vista Avenue, near Buena Vista Elementary School. They did not say what time it happened; the city first sent out an advisory at 5:30 a.m.
Police said they secured the scene and that there no longer was any danger to the public. They said they would release more information later Thursday.
