Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Feb. 16-21.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:
Krista Arreola, Menlo School soccer: The senior scored the winning goal on an assist from Julia Axelrod in a 1-0 win over Santa Cruz to send the Knights to the CCS Division IV semifinals. She also controlled the field for the Knights, helping them preserve a tie and an automatic playoffs bid earlier in the week.
Mahlaysia Atkins, Moreau Catholic basketball: Atkins scored 33 points and went 13 of 18 from the field as Moreau Catholic beat Fortuna in the first round of the NCS Division II playoffs, adding five rebounds, four assists and eight steals. She added 14 points, four rebounds and two rebounds as MC beat Marin Catholic 74-48 in the quarterfinals.
Julia Branch, Carondelet soccer: The sophomore scored the game-winning goal in Cardonelet’s 1-0 NCS Open Division semifinal win over Cardinal Newman, sending the Cougars through to the Open championship against Bishop O’Dowd on Saturday.
Rosalyn Diaz, Liberty wrestling: Diaz won the 190-pound title at the NCS championship, earning a 7-0 decision win in the final to secure the championship.
Tamara Grace, Gilroy wrestling: The senior won the 130-pound bracket at the CCS Masters wrestling championships, winning every match by fall, technical fall or forfeit.
London Greene, Carlmont basketball: Green posted a double-double in a win over Mills to wrap up the regular season, compiling 18 points and 15 rebounds as Carlmont won 52-32.
SJ Martin, Granada wrestling: Martin romped through the 120-pound bracket at the NCS championships, pinning all four of her opponents in the first period to secure the individual championship and help Granada take home the team title.
Khloe Meisenbach, South San Francisco wrestling: Meisenbach won the 140-pound bracket at the CCS championships, winning three of her matches by fall and the championship match by a 12-0 major decision.
Kaylin Teo, Mission San Jose basketball: Teo had 16 points, including five of eight MSJ points scored in overtime, to lead the No. 12 Warriors to a 47-46 upset win over No. 5 Urban in the opening round of the NCS Division III tournament.
Shayna Ward, Oakland Tech wrestling: Ward, a senior, won the 135-pound title at the NCS championships, securing her championship match with a first-period pin. It was her third consecutive NCS individual crown.
