On Saturday, March 14, the Crimson Wave will face off against Lake Taylor High School at the State Finals at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond. Petersburg (21-4) beat Lake Taylor 66-53 in the Region 3A championship game at the end of February.
It’s the first trip to the state finals for the Crimson Wave since 2022 when they lost a heartbreaker to Cave Spring, 76-75.
This year, the team has dominated on the court throughout the season under the direction of Tytrail “Ty” White, head coach and assistant athletic director. White, a PHS alum and Virginia State University graduate, has over 20 years of coaching experience.
