The Greater Lake Tahoe Area placed under a lake wind advisory until Wednesday evening — winds gusting up to 45 mph – The Mercury News

On Monday at 1:04 p.m. a lake wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from 7 p.m. until Wednesday Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

The NWS Reno NV adds to prepare for, “Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and waves 2 to 5 feet.”

“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” the NWS said. “Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.”
