Map Shows Northeastern States Set to Get Hit With Snow Again This Weekend

More snow is on the horizon for the Northeast, with forecast maps from the National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Prediction Center revealing rising chances of more winter storm impacts expected across the region beginning on Friday.
Forecasters say the Northeast is bracing for yet another round of accumulating snow this weekend, as a pair of fast‑moving systems lines up to sweep across the region. Early projections indicate light to moderate snowfall across much of New York, New England, and surrounding states, with totals varying widely depending on the storm’s exact track. With models still diverging, meteorologists warn that travel delays, slick roads, and bursts of heavier snow remain possible as the weekend unfolds.
The snowfall totals with the incoming system will be nowhere near the magnitude of the current winter storm, NWS Weather Prediction Center meteorologist Frank Pereira told Newsweek, adding that there’s “always potential with overlapping storms” that recovery efforts could be hindered by the new snowfall.
“Overall, the magnitude of the [new] storm at this point does not look like anything major,” he said.
New winter weather outlook maps from the NWS Weather Prediction Center show that much of the Northeast is expecting moderate chances of at least minor winter weather impacts beginning this weekend. States at the highest risk, which as of Monday afternoon cap out at around 40 percent, include Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
A much more widespread region, extending from Indiana east through Delaware and up north through Maine, has a 5 percent or greater chance.
Chances diminish on Saturday and Sunday before increasing again on Monday as another storm in the near-distant future takes shape and threatens to bring a chance of snow and winter weather across the eastern half of the United States.
“Beyond tomorrow, a progressive clipper system diving out of the Upper Great Lakes could yield additional snowfall over parts of the Northeast, including areas which are seeing the heavy snow now, so stay tuned,” the NWS said in a Monday forecast.
The official impacts of the two incoming winter storm systems remain to be seen, but forecasters will likely have a better idea of snowfall totals and the hardest-hit areas as the week progresses. People living in the impacted area are urged to monitor forecasts and stay up to date as the situation develops.
