Trump storms out after Welker challenges falsehoods

Trump storms – President Donald Trump walked off “Meet the Press” minutes after Kristen Welker pressed him on the administration’s stance toward a $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund, false claims about the Jan. 6 attack, and his assertions about California primary electi
The rain wasn’t just in the forecast when President Donald Trump sat down for “Meet the Press” on Sunday—it became part of the moment itself.
As Kristen Welker pressed him through a stream of difficult questions. Trump grew increasingly frustrated and eventually stormed out of the interview. His crash-out landed minutes after Welker asked about the $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund—an idea the administration says it is “not moving forward” on. even as the president did not rule out the possibility of taxpayer-funded payouts for Jan. 6 rioters.
That exchange set the tone for what followed: Trump offering openness to paying people who attacked police officers during the Capitol riot. then quickly turning to claims Welker repeatedly challenged—claims the interview described as false and baseless. Among them were assertions about FBI agents “ushering” people into the building. and claims involving people who pled guilty to assaulting police officers.
Welker pushed back multiple times as Trump’s answers drifted away from evidence and into accusations. The interview then shifted to Trump’s comments about “rigged” primary elections in California, an argument Welker confronted directly as Trump expanded on how he said the votes were being counted.
“Let me tell you, it’s four days, and they aren’t even close to coming up with the—,” Trump started.
“That’s how they count the votes in California,” Welker interjected.
Trump followed up by saying, “Do you know why they’re doing that? Because they’re cheating on the election.” He then replied to Welker’s demand for support by insisting, “It’s — all I have to do is look. All I have to do is look.”
Welker reminded him, “But that’s not evidence.”
As the exchange tightened, Trump accused California election officials of being “crooked” before turning the focus on Welker herself. He attacked her and the broader media ecosystem, saying, “Just like you’re crooked, your press is crooked. And ‘Meet the Press’ is crooked.” Then came a line that sharpened the confrontation into something personal: “You’re either crooked or you’re stupid. ” Trump told Welker.
The interview described the rest of Trump’s remarks as escalating into a rambling, uninterrupted outburst that included his grievances about the “crooked” media. He then moved from verbal attack to exit, appearing to treat the interview as done.
“You’re a one-sided crooked network. Sorry. Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time,” Trump said, tossing his microphone to the ground and making a dismissive hand gesture toward Welker.
Welker tried to slow him down. “Mr. President, let’s ― please, I traveled all the way to Wisconsin,” she pleaded.
Trump responded by pointing to the rain-soaked setting: “I’ve sat in the rain with you.”
“I know. I traveled all the way—,” Welker said back.
Trump repeated the scene as he looked directly at her: “I sat in the rain with you for an hour,” he said, “and on and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time.” He added, “You ought to straighten out your press, because you know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press.”
He then signaled for his team to leave, got up from his seat, and walked off camera.
After the interview aired, Welker said she spoke with the president Saturday, and that both of them acknowledged the “complications” posed by the rain during the interview. She also said Trump agreed to sit down for another interview.
The episode ended in a way that left viewers with more than a single unanswered question—especially after Welker repeatedly challenged Trump’s claims about the Jan. 6 attack and the evidence behind his assertions about California’s primary vote counting.

He just can’t handle questions, that’s it.
So basically she asked about that $1.8 billion thing and he storms off?? But I thought they said it wasn’t moving forward, like why is everyone acting like it’s already happening. Also the Jan 6 payout part sounds wild even if he was just talking.
Wait, was he mad because she said the “anti-weaponization” fund was not happening? Or is it about the FBI agents thing? I read somewhere that the FBI literally opened the door for people which sounds dumb but also kinda like what they’re implying. Either way, he was probably gonna rage no matter what, he can’t stand Welker’s voice lol.
He says California is cheating and she’s like “no it’s not” but then he leaves?? I’m confused because this article is talking about falsehoods and payouts and the rain being “part of the moment” like that matters. Also how is that fund even “anti-weaponization”?? sounds like a made up slogan. And if he’s saying people who assaulted police deserve money, then honestly what are we even doing here, just arguing over words while the country burns.
