Trump Reverses Course on Strict Russia Sanctions Signed a Month Ago

Just a month after signing legislation named after the late Senator Lindsey Graham to penalize Russia, Donald Trump has changed his position.
Just over a month ago, Donald Trump signed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The legislation was named in honor of the recently deceased senator, who was widely recognized as one of Ukraine’s firmest supporters within the United States Congress. Armed with this law, the administration held the authority to impose severe new sanctions against Russia. The White House commemorated the signing with a social media post accompanied by a small American flag and the message, "For Lindsey."
