The cameras found them near the 8:20 mark of the first quarter—Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and pop sensation Taylor Swift sliding into courtside seats for Game 3 of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ NBA Playoffs run against the New York Knicks.

For a night when Cleveland is down 0-2, the appearance carried its own kind of momentum. The Cavaliers needed any spark they could get, especially with Karl-Anthony Towns going off in the first quarter. Kelce and Swift were there to cheer on the Cavs. with Kelce’s Ohio ties giving the moment an extra layer.

Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl winner, hails from Westlake, Ohio. His podcast—named alongside brother Jason Kelce after Cleveland Heights—leans into that connection. Growing up in the state, Kelce has never hidden his fandom for the Cavaliers.

Swift’s presence added another twist to the crowd noise. She became a Chiefs fan during her regular appearances for Kelce’s games during the 2023 season. and it seems Kelce’s Cavalier devotion may have rubbed off. Swift has reportedly shifted into a closet Cavs fan as well. making her the second famed singer to appear at a Cavaliers game.

The first was Donovan Mitchell’s romantic partner—R&B songstress Coco Jones—who is romantically linked to the Cavaliers star and regularly supports “Spida” during his games. The two have also shared tender moments after games during the postseason. including more recent scenes tied to Mitchell’s performance against the Detroit Pistons in Game 4. That matchup came with Mitchell tying a previous playoff mark held by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

On the court, though, the noise from the sideline wasn’t enough to change the direction of the game. The Knicks answered with a late third-quarter burst, building a commanding 85-72 lead toward the end of the third quarter.

Cleveland can still point to Towns’ early production and the spectacle of support from Kelce and Swift—but the score tells the story of what matters most right now: even high-profile cheers haven’t slowed New York’s momentum.

  1. Why are celebrities always at games when the home team is getting cooked? Like Swift can’t just clap harder.

  2. Cavs were down 0-2 and then Kelce and Taylor show up near 8:20, and it still ended 85-72… so basically the power of friendship didn’t work lol. Towns went off but then Knicks said nope. Also I swear Taylor already moved on to Cavs??

  3. Isn’t Taylor Swift a Knicks fan or am I mixing it up with that other game? I just remember headlines like “Swift spotted at…” and then people act like she picked a side forever. It’s crazy that Kelce is from Ohio but the Cavs still lost, like where’s the Ohio energy supposed to kick in?

  4. The cameras found them at 8:20 of the first quarter and everyone’s acting like that’s why the momentum shifted?? I mean Knicks pulled away late third, that’s not because Taylor was there. But I do think it’s funny that she’s “a closet Cavs fan” now, like the Chiefs don’t count anymore. Also Donovan Mitchell’s person Coco Jones, whatever her name is, she’s always there too, so it’s basically celebrity season at the Q.
