Travis Kelce buys Guardians stake ahead of July wedding

Travis Kelce has bought a minority stake in the Cleveland Guardians, joining the team’s ownership group. The move comes weeks before his early-July wedding to Taylor Swift and as he shifts toward offseason preparations with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Travis Kelce didn’t wait for the wedding spotlight to turn fully on his life. Weeks before he’s set to marry Taylor Swift in early July, the Kansas City Chiefs star has stepped into a different kind of stage — as part-owner of the Cleveland Guardians, the boyhood team he grew up watching.
The purchase is a minority stake, and Kelce has joined the ownership group of the MLB franchise. The Guardians are valued at around $1.7 billion, a figure that reflects an increase of $700 million since lead minority owner David Blitzer bought a stake in 2022.
Kelce’s connection to Cleveland runs deeper than fandom. “I have so much love for this city,” Kelce told ESPN. “I say it all the time: I’m just a kid from the Heights living the dream. I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic.”.
He went on to describe what that upbringing still means to him now, pointing to the community around him. “Cleveland Heights is such a diverse and dynamic place. Every friend, neighbor, teacher and teammate — they all made me the man I am today,” he said. “It just fueled such a deep appreciation for life and community and service. That mentality of Cleveland against the world runs deep.”.
The timing lands in the middle of a packed personal and professional stretch. Kelce is preparing to marry Swift and is also starting offseason activities with the Chiefs ahead of the new NFL season.
Last week, Kelce and Swift were courtside as they watched his Cleveland Cavaliers lose to the New York Knicks in the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals. Now, with his Guardians stake added to the mix, Cleveland is pulling on two sides of his sports life — one in the stands, one in the ownership group.
“Everyone is there to play their role, and right now, I’m here to observe and learn and really to support the team and the city when and where I can,” Kelce said.
For Kelce, the move is framed not as a quick flex, but as a continuation of something he already believes in: culture, community, and involvement that goes beyond game days.

So he bought part of the Guardians… does that mean he’s gonna start playing? Lol
Ngl I thought he was just dating Taylor Swift not owning stuff. Like money moves before the wedding huh. Cleveland really is his whole personality I guess.
Wait, Guardians as in like the Marvel ones? Or the movie? If it’s MLB, good for him but why is this even news. Also isn’t David Blitzer already in there so he’s just adding like 2%?
This feels like a “look at me” wedding setup. Like he’s in Cleveland Heights posting love quotes and then turning around to do Chiefs offseason stuff… can’t focus on one thing. Also $1.7 billion?? That number is wild, I don’t even know what a minority stake means anymore. Bet he’s gonna claim it’s for the community tho.
