Terraria’s 15th year brings cross-play and collector’s box

Terraria cross-play – Re-Logic marked Terraria’s 15th anniversary with promises of more updates, including cross-play “on deck soon,” plus an upcoming 15th Anniversary Collector’s Edition box set and the book Terraria: Design Works, with pre-orders and release details.

Terraria turned 15 this weekend. and the developer behind it is signaling that the next stretch won’t be the “end of the journey” kind of milestone.. In a Steam post celebrating the game’s 15th anniversary. Re-Logic promised more is still coming with update 1.4.6 and beyond. including cross-play. which it said is “on deck soon.”

Re-Logic also teased two new offshoots for the anniversary: a collector’s edition box set and a retrospective book aimed at giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at how Terraria was made.. The developer didn’t spell out what the 15th Anniversary Collector’s Edition box set will include. but it did say pre-orders are expected to open in early June.. Alongside that. Re-Logic said it plans for the game to keep going—writing that “the world of Terraria remains and will remain vibrant and alive for as long as we have anything to say about it.”

The book is slated to be available on its own or bundled as part of a Deluxe Edition.. Re-Logic partnered with Lost In Cult for the project, bringing Terraria into the latter’s Design Works series.. In the Steam post. the developer described the series as offering “a glimpse behind the curtain — into the journey of Terraria the game and the team behind it. ” adding: “A retrospective look back on the phenomenon that is Terraria.. Fun stories from dev-land, never-before-seen artwork, and more!” Pre-orders for Terraria: Design Works are set to open on May 28.

The same post also leaned into the durability of Terraria’s player base, sharing a few milestone figures. Re-Logic said the game has sold 70 million copies across PC, console, and mobile. It also noted that Terraria players on PC log an average of 101 hours and 18 minutes.

The pieces line up in a clear sequence: Re-Logic points to update 1.4.6 and “beyond. ” then pairs that promise of new features—specifically cross-play “on deck soon”—with anniversary merchandise and a Design Works retrospective. all while backing up the timing with the 70 million sales figure and the PC play-time average of 101 hours and 18 minutes.

For fans hoping cross-play will finally bridge communities, the Steam tease keeps the focus on timing without giving details yet.. Still. the promise is explicit enough to set expectations around what comes next after the 15th anniversary. whether that’s in update 1.4.6. in the collector’s edition box set (with pre-orders expected in early June). or in Terraria: Design Works (with pre-orders opening May 28).

  1. 70 million copies but still no cross-play details… classic. Maybe it’s “on deck soon” like the next update 1.4.6? lol

  2. Wait so the 15th anniversary box set is gonna have the book too or separate? The article kinda made it sound like a bundle called Deluxe Edition but then it’s also “available on its own”?? I’m confused.

  3. 101 hours average on PC is kinda wild, but I bet that includes AFK or something. Cross-play “on deck soon” sounds like they’re just trying to sell merchandise first. Also May 28 preorder??? I might just buy it because I’ve already forgotten everything else about Terraria at this point.
