Shericka Jackson. the two-time 200m world champion. led from the off and looked in control through the bend—exactly where her pace can separate a field. She surged toward the line and delivered a time of 21.87 seconds to win the Diamond League event. smashing the meeting record. The performance left her just 0.01 seconds shy of the world lead.
Shaunae Miller-Uibo finished second in 22.04, and Anavia Battle took third with 22.29. Both posted season’s bests. but for much of the race there was no sense they would trouble Jackson once she had established herself. Sha’Carri Richardson. the 2023 world 100m champion. also ran well for the moment she needed. producing a season’s best of 22.38 seconds to take fourth.

A day after turning 18, Yan Ziyi broke the Diamond League record, the Asian record and the world under-20 record with a throw of 71.74m in the women’s javelin on Saturday. The 18-year-old Chinese athlete moved to second place in the women’s javelin record books with the stunning effort.
