Shakira Praises Piqué Four Years After Alleged Cheating

Shakira praises – Four years after splitting from Gerard Piqué amid allegations of cheating, Shakira tells The Times of London she’ll “always” feel gratitude toward him for the way he helped shape her motherhood—while also insisting she’s focused on her children and career, wit
Shakira didn’t bring up Gerard Piqué for a fight—she brought him up for something closer to peace.
In an interview published by The Times of London on Friday, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer offered a rare comment about the father of her children, saying she’ll “always have that gratitude in my heart for the father of my kids and [for] turning me into the mother that I am today.”
The former couple share sons Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11. Shakira and Piqué split up in 2022 after reports claimed he cheated on the TQG singer with now-girlfriend Clara Chía Martí.
On their breakup. Shakira described it to the outlet as “the darkest moment” where she “saw the dissolution of my family. the family that I had dreamt to keep forever.” She also said she’s been through so much pain that it made her. in an unforeseen way. “perhaps… a wiser person — or stronger. at least.”.
In this latest conversation, she pushed even further into what she says she learned from the ordeal. “They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and it is true,” she said. “It’s amazing to learn that humans have a resilience that we can resort to at any moment in our lives. Sometimes through hardships and through pain is how we discover how strong we can. Suffering sometimes makes you a better person, makes you value friends and support.”.
She also named the support she received from friends during that stretch. Shakira said Adele and Chris Martin were among those who stepped in for her. adding that Chris Martin sent her a photo of a broken vase glued back together with gold and referenced the Japanese artform Kintsugi. “Kintsugi — you’re going to be so much stronger once this is over,” he told her.
Shakira’s own reflection is just as blunt—and optimistic. “Life sometimes can be a b**ch, but it’s also beautiful and made of light and shadows,” she said. “So I thank life for every single moment. the bright ones and the dark ones. the people who have made me suffer because they have become my masters who have taught me lessons. very valuable lessons.”.
She also made it clear that love isn’t her priority right now. “Oh no, no romance for me for now,” Shakira said. “There’s no space or time in my life for that. My plate is quite full. My kids are my priority. And my career. Strangely enough, I’m in love with my career like I’ve never been in my life. I’m enjoying my time alone as well.”.
For Shakira, the storyline has shifted from the shock of a split to the work of rebuilding. And for a moment, even the man at the center of the breakup story is framed less as an enemy and more as part of a chapter that, as she puts it, helped turn her into the mother she is today.
