Shoppers warned as toys, baby food recalled nationwide

Irish shoppers were issued with a number of warnings this week as a number of popular products were recalled over health and safety fears. Each week, product safety officers from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) conduct inspections of various products sold in Ireland to ensure they meet safety standards. These inspections can be unannounced and cover a range of products, including toys, electrical goods, and gas appliances. Where products fail to meet safety standards, CCPC officers use their statutory powers to ensure they

are removed from shelves to protect consumers and prevent further risk. Meanwhile s everal food products were removed from supermarket shelves this week after being recalled over safety fears. Below is a round-up of the product and food recall notices issued over the past week, with baby items, children’s clothing and Crumbed Ham sold in Irish stores among the items shoppers have been warned to avoid. to stop using them immediately. The recall affects various girl’s dresses sold in TK Maxx and Homesense stores nationwide. check their fridges after a number of popular products were recalled over the potential presence of mould. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued an alert on Tuesday over several Glenisk Baby Organic Fromage Frais products, which are sold in many supermarkets nationwide. The recall comes amid concerns over possible mould growth and spoilage in certain batches of the products. Parents, guardians and caregivers are being advised not to feed the affected products to young children . The FSAI said: “Glenisk is recalling the

below batches of Glenisk Baby Organic Fromage Frais products due to possible mould growth and spoilage. “Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale. “Parents, guardians and caregivers are advised not to feed the implicated batches to young children.” The products involved are Glenisk Baby Organic Fromage Frais Strawberry with Banana, Vanilla and Oats; Glenisk Baby Organic Fromage Frais Apple, Pear, Carrot with Oats; and Glenisk Baby Organic Fromage Frais Mango with Apple, Banana and Oats. The

implicated products are sold in 4 x 60g packs with a use by date of May 28, 2026. Parents were also told this week to dispose a Crayola product over concerns sand in the kits may be contaminated with asbestos. A product safety information notice was issued on Thursday for the Hunter Price Crayola-branded Discovery Craft Box. The products present a risk to health as the sand inside the product may contain asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance across the EU because it poses a

risk to health. HSE Public Health advice is that there is low risk to human health from these sand products based on current information. The brand is Crayola. The model number is 35501. The barcode is 5061047355015. The item code is 5061047355015. The product was sold between August 2025 and April 2026 in The Works, Wilton Shopping Centre Co Cork. The CCPC said if the sand is still in its packaging it should be placed in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double taped securely and stored

away from children. People should wear gloves and a mask to clean up sites where the sand was used – with wet cloths to avoid generating dust – and double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths. Parents have been urged to keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned. On Thursday, Shein announced customers that it was carrying out a recall of a Whale Fountain Baby Bath Toy sold on the Shein

marketplace by the seller Xiyin Shop. According to the CCPC, the product presents a risk of choking. The product contains small parts which can easily detach. A small child could put a small part in their mouth and choke. There are approximately 252 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The type/number of the model is 218 – NO.6616. The product reference number is sa25062654603322639. The batch number is 5 August 2025. The CCPC has said that if you purchased one of these products, “please

stop use immediately, discard the product, and keep it out of the reach of children.” Customers who wish to contact SHEIN for a refund or have any concerns or questions about this product can contact SHEIN customer services by email at eurcsteam@shein.com The FSAI has recalled a specific brand of ham s old in supermarkets across Ireland after it was recalled due to a “possible health risk”. The food safety watchdog announced on Thursday that a specific batch of Divilly Brothers No Added Nitrite Crumbed

Ham has been pulled from shelves after it was discovered that some packs contained an undeclared allergen. The affected product may contain gluten (wheat), which is not listed on some of the packaging. This means the product could pose a health risk to anyone who is allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten. Consumers with gluten allergies or intolerances have been warned not to eat the implicated batch. Instead, they are advised to bring it back to where it was purchased for a refund.

The recall applies to a 90g pack, with the batch code 20163983 and use by date 04.06.2026. The affected ham was sold in supermarkets nationwide, including Dunnes Stores and Tesco. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
