Paul Pelosi briefly stopped after a collision in Yountville, then drove away—leaving behind a legally parked car with “major” damage, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
The 86-year-old was driving his brown convertible on Friday when he struck the parked vehicle on the side of the road. the sheriff’s office said in a statement. A witness reported the crash and called 911. Shortly afterward, deputies found Pelosi about a quarter of a mile away, with damage to the front of his car.
The sheriff’s office said Pelosi told officers he knew he hit something but was not sure when or what caused the damage.
No injuries were reported. Authorities said Pelosi did not have any alcohol in his system, according to the statement. Even so. the sheriff’s office referred him to the Department of Motor Vehicles for a process to determine whether he may continue to drive—something officials said is common for older drivers.
Pelosi was not arrested, and because no one was injured, the sheriff’s office recommended a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the scene of an accident.
The story lands with added weight because Pelosi’s driving record already includes a prior alcohol-related case in Napa County. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence. He was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation. but the record reflects he served only two days in jail. receiving good conduct credit for two other days. That left just one day to serve in a work program at the courthouse.
As part of his probation. Pelosi was required to attend a three-month drinking driver class and install an ignition interlock device. which forces drivers to provide a breath sample to prove sobriety before the engine will start. He was also ordered to pay about $5. 000 in victim restitution for medical bills and lost wages. along with nearly $2. 000 in fines.
That same year, Paul Pelosi was attacked and severely beaten with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco home.

Wait I thought it said he wasn’t sure what caused the damage like how do you not know??? Also “no injuries” doesn’t mean it’s not a big deal.
The alcohol part is weird though. They say no alcohol in his system but he had that DUI stuff already, right? And then DMV steps in like that’s some magic fix. If he’s not arrested then how is it even “fleeing” like… I guess CA laws are different or something.
This is just gonna turn into another celebrity rules thing. Like he already has an ignition interlock and all that and then boom another incident. Also the hammer attack year threw me off like did he have brain damage or something? They always say “common for older drivers” but older drivers aren’t supposed to keep running into stuff and leaving.
