Obsession’s Inde Navarrette Avoids Social Media After Breakout

Inde Navarrette, the 25-year-old star of the indie horror hit Obsession, says she’s limiting what she sees online while her career enters a new phase—staying mostly off social media except for messages sent by family and her team.
Inde Navarrette is stepping carefully around the flood of attention that comes with sudden fame.
The 25-year-old Obsession actress. currently earning major critical praise for her portrayal of Nikki in the runaway indie horror movie. says she’s keeping her distance from social media for now. Her approach is simple: she doesn’t want the constant stream to pull focus during what she describes as a new process and a new step in her career.
Speaking to People, Navarrette said she and her mom have been “limiting the amount of things that I’m allowed to see just for right now.” She added that she wants to make sure she’s “protecting myself first,” while still “giving thanks to everybody who loves the movie.”
For her, the boundary is clear. She says she only sees posts that are sent directly by family and her team. She’s also not “seeing anything on social media unless it’s being sent to me by a family member or my team.” Any additional messages she receives in person are part of how she chooses to connect—allowing her to “physically see that person. ” receive what they’re saying. and respond with thanks directly.
The offline distance hasn’t dulled her pride in the work that got her here. Navarrette told People she feels “really proud” because she “put everything that I possibly could into this character.” She described her preparation as a deliberate break from the roles she’d been doing before—remembering a quote that pushed her forward: “To get something you’ve never had. you have to do something you’ve never done.”.
She said she knew she wanted to “break out of the past roles. ” and planned to “do everything humanly possible. ” approaching the performance with the idea that there are “so many aspects to being a person and being a girl and everything that you don’t get to show.” Her goal. she said. was to make sure those sides were visible: “You’re going to see it.”.
Back on the screen, Obsession continues to surge. The Curry Barker-helmed horror movie set a new record by May 18. becoming the cheapest movie to top the box office in 17 years since 2009’s Paranormal Activity. Praise for Navarrette has been especially loud. with multiple outlets calling for her performance to get awards attention—and deeming it “genuinely Oscar worthy.”.
While the spotlight keeps brightening, Navarrette says she’s choosing what she lets in. For now, the feedback she absorbs is intentional, filtered, and personal—meant to keep her grounded while the moment moves fast around her.

Good for her I guess, social media is poison.
Wait so she’s not on social media at all? That seems fake like how is she getting fan updates then. Also Obsession being the cheapest to top box office?? Maybe marketing just worked lol.
I read that she only checks stuff her family/team sends which is kinda smart. But then it says “new process” like what does that even mean, is she quitting acting or something? I’m confused because horror stars always end up doomscrolling.
Honestly I don’t blame her. Once you “break out” every random account starts commenting like they know her. It’s like everybody’s trying to be her manager in the comments. Also the article says it’s Oscar worthy and I’m like… Oscars are rigged tho. Still, if she’s protecting herself first then good, I guess.
