Milo Yiannopoulos, the far-right commentator who long championed a crackdown on illegal immigration in the U.S., bemoaned his own deportation in a Tuesday interview and said he’s “ashamed” he once supported President Donald Trump.
“The manner in which they arrest you. They put you in manacles, your hands, your feet, chained together. Everybody is arrested like a MS-13 gang member,” Yiannopoulos said in an interview on the “Piers Morgan Uncensored” YouTube channel.
The rightwing provocateur was deported to his home country on Friday for allegedly overstaying after entering the country legally in May 2019, U.S. officials said. The experience, he said Tuesday, made him realize he “didn’t really understand the physical reality of how institutionalized the brutality is in America.”
“It hurts a lot more than it looks like on television,” he alleged, saying he found the process “physically degrading,” and it left him “weeping like an old woman for an hour.”
The arrest had made him regret fiercely backing Trump, he added.
“If I had any clue that anything remotely like this was even possible, I would never have got involved in supporting Trump in the first place, and I’m very ashamed that I did.”
Yiannopoulos spent years calling for illegal immigrants to be rounded up and deported from the U.S. And In a post on X in June 2025, Yiannopoulos called for “ICE checkpoints” at supermarkets and gas stations, and demanded “on the spot deportation” for undocumented immigrants.
