Meghan McCain didn’t just watch JD Vance on “The View” Tuesday—she came away fired up.
On X, the conservative television personality posted her “biggest takeaway” from the vice president’s appearance, writing that Vance did a strong job while the hosts, in her view, still couldn’t keep things together.
“My biggest takeaway from Vance on The View is honestly how s–tty and undisciplined the hosts STILL ARE. ” McCain wrote. She added that after “all these years. ” the show’s panel still “get basics facts wrong. flub easy questions and can’t get through a segment without yelling at each other.” Then she made her contrast clear: “Vance handled it all very well.”.
McCain previously served as a co-host on “The View” for four seasons, from 2017 to 2021. She later said she left “on her own terms,” and that tense on-air clashes along party lines and a “toxic” workplace atmosphere drove her decision to exit.
The push-and-pull during Tuesday’s episode was hard to miss, particularly between Vance and Whoopi Goldberg. The “Sister Act” star asked the vice president about the treatment of people of color in America. Goldberg wondered what people of color have “done to the Trump administration” that has “allowed it to really stigmatize” them.
At first, Vance appeared to miss the framing. “So you say that we’re anti-minority or anti-black — ” he began.
Goldberg cut him off immediately. “No I didn’t say that!” she said, then pushed back again in the moment: “I asked — see? Don’t start any stuff with me, man. Don’t get me in trouble.”
The interview also ended with Vance steering things toward the reason he was there in the first place. He “blatantly asked the hosts at the end of his interview” to talk more about his book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” which he was promoting during the appearance.
