Max Thieriot Says ‘Fire Country’ Fans Should Be “Worried” About Season 5

Fire Country season 5 premieres on CBS on Friday, October 9, 2026.

Star Max Thieriot teased what’s to come in the season 5 premiere and why fans need to be “worried.”

This story contains light spoilers from the season 4 finale of Fire Country.

Max Thieriot has something slightly concerning to say about Fire Country season 5.

The latest installment premieres Friday, October 9, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, and viewers will see Edgewater pick up the pieces after an explosive season 4 finale. After a dam broke and flooded the area, the teams at Station 42 and Three Rock helped save lives while celebrating Jake Crawford’s (Jordan Calloway) wedding.

However, the danger doesn’t seem to be over yet. Max (who plays Bode Leone) told TV Insider in an interview on September 21 that the season 5 premiere opens with a massive sinkhole in Edgewater, leaving some residents trapped underground.

“I think we can definitely worry,” Max told the outlet about what’s to come in season 5. “It’s right there in town, and there’s a town event that’s taking place. And so a lot of the community is involved, and firefighters are involved, and a lot of the staples of the town and community that we’ve come to know and have met throughout the seasons.”

While we’ll have to tune in to the season 5 premiere to see what happens, Max noted that the sinkhole is only the beginning of Bode’s journey this time around.

“I think the big journey for him is: how can he be the person that the community can rely on?” he added. How can he help people after such a big, tragic event and so much devastation that the flood causes and the end of last season? We’ll see that they’re spread thin and they’re trying to help these other communities and deal with all this stuff, and it’s about Bode rising to the occasion and figuring out how to take some leadership and responsibility.”

Max also shared that the show will take nods from its spinoff, Sheriff Country, for some future emergencies in season 5.

“I think one thing that certainly works really well in Sheriff Country, but also has kind of played well in previous seasons of Fire Country is that everybody loves—I don’t want to say mystery—but having [something] emotional/some suspense that’s outside of the incident itself and is its own story,” he concluded. “And so we’re going to have something like that thrown into the mix, which is, I think, going to be really exciting for people to be tuning in week to week… It’s a storyline that we’re going to thread throughout at least part of the season, and it certainly brings some danger.”
