Court records show the case hinges on a chain of timing: minutes after the incident. the system recorded a sedan matching the vehicle’s description as it pulled out from the garage.
Authorities were led to Williams after the license plate reader captured a picture of a car registered to him leaving immediately after the shooting. according to court records from the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. Williams was charged with first degree murder after turning himself in with his attorney present Saturday, records show. During a court hearing, a Cook County judge ordered Williams held pending trial.
The violence unfolded shortly after a shift ended. Minutes after clocking out around 9:10 a.m. Thursday. video surveillance captured Williams and an unnamed employee approaching Taylor and another co-worker before a fight ensued in the parking lot of the fulfillment center in the 1800 block of 5th Avenue. court records show.
It was not clear what the fight was about. But officials said Taylor was attempting to pull one of the unnamed employees off the other when he saw Williams approach with a gun. Prosecutors said Taylor tried to run, and Williams allegedly shot him once in the back before fleeing. Taylor was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead.
Prosecutors said a dark sedan was seen leaving the garage immediately after the shooting, and within two minutes a license plate reader captured a sedan matching the vehicle’s description. The car was later learned to be registered to Williams, court records show.
Williams’ timecards show he punched out minutes before the shooting, and three employees positively identified him in video wearing a distinct beige sweatshirt—walking toward the parking garage and appearing in the parking-garage minutes before the shooting, authorities said.
At the scene, prosecutors said they recovered three shell casings and Williams’ cell phone.
Williams’ next court date was scheduled for June 22 in Maywood.

License plate readers are creepy but like… they always work I guess. If it shows he left, then yeah he did it.
So he turned himself in but still behind bars? Sounds like they had the car thing already. Also not sure how they say the fight was over, like what even triggered it.
