Knicks’ 10-game streak turns numbers into Finals push

Knicks 10-game – The New York Knicks are one win from the NBA Finals after a 10-game winning streak that has reshaped the franchise record book—and forced comparisons to some of the sport’s most dominant playoff teams. From a 225-point combined margin to elite shooting since A
The Knicks are already past the point where “hot streak” feels like enough. After falling behind in the opening round, New York has not just kept winning—it has done it with a margin that makes NBA history look different.
In Round 1, the Knicks trailed Atlanta 2-1. Since then, they’ve reeled off 10 consecutive playoff victories, going 10-0 after winning the final three games against the Hawks. They swept Philadelphia in Round 2. then took a 3-0 lead over Cleveland in the Eastern Conference finals—meaning they are one win away from reaching the NBA Finals.
Coach Mike Brown doesn’t let the moment float away into praise. “there’s nothing easy about this,” he said, adding “a little bit of luck” helps as well. Brown credited what he calls the habits behind the run: “They’re doing the things I always talk about: they’re holding each other accountable. they’re believing in the process. they’re playing with a competitive spirit that is unmatched. ” he said. “If you do those things while focusing on the detail and communicating and bringing energy and effort you have a chance to string some games together.”.
The numbers offer their own argument—one with sharp edges.
New York has won these 10 consecutive playoff games by a combined 225 points. There has never been such a one-sided 10-game stretch in NBA history, regular season or playoffs. Before this playoff run, the Knicks’ most lopsided score differential in a 10-game winning streak dated back to Oct. 24 through Nov. 11, 1969, when New York won the NBA title that season.
When you widen the lens to the league, the Knicks are still rare company. The most one-sided 10-game winning streak in playoff history belongs to the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors. who outscored opponents by 171 during that stretch as they marched to a championship. That same Warriors staff included Mike Brown—now the Knicks’ head coach.
This run also challenges old NBA point-differential benchmarks. The NBA record for point differential in any 10-game stretch before now was a 214-point margin by the 1973-74 Milwaukee Bucks. who went 9-1 in those games. The most lopsided differential during a 10-game winning streak was also held by those Bucks. who outscored opponents by 212 points from Feb. 11 through Feb. 24, 1971.
For the Knicks, the streak is not just dominant—it’s also positioned like a postseason pattern. Their 10-game winning streak is tied for the fifth-longest in a single postseason.
There are familiar names near the top of the list: Golden State started 15-0 in the 2017 playoffs. San Antonio won 12 straight in the 1999 playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers had two separate 11-game playoff winning streaks—first in 1989. when they were swept by Detroit in the NBA Finals. and again in 2001 when they topped Philadelphia for the title.
This Knicks group also joins a short list of teams with 10-game winning streaks in the same postseason: Boston (2024), Cleveland (2016 and 2017), San Antonio (2012) and New Jersey (2003).
The franchise context makes the current stretch even more striking. Before this season, the Knicks’ longest playoff winning streak in the same season was a six-game run in 1999.
Offense has helped drive the margin too. New York has scored 1,222 points during the winning streak. They’re the eighth team to have reached that total during a 10-game postseason stretch. Of the previous seven. five went on to win NBA titles: Golden State in 2017. the Lakers in 1987. the Lakers in 1985. Philadelphia in 1967 and Boston in 1959. The two exceptions were Denver in 1985 and San Antonio in 1983.
The sharpest day-to-day proof comes from shooting.
During this 10-game winning streak, the Knicks are shooting 53.8%—by far the best in the NBA since the run began on April 25. Oklahoma City is shooting 50.1% since that date, and no other team in the league is over 50% across those last four weeks.
They’ve also been tough to beat on the road. New York is 5-0 in its last five playoff road games, tying the longest such streak in team history. Last season’s Knicks also produced a five-game road winning streak.
But it hasn’t been passive dominance. All five road wins in this streak have come by double figures. tying the longest such run in NBA playoff history. Miami did it in 2013 with five consecutive road games by double digits. and Golden State matched that in 2017—both of those teams went on to win NBA titles.
The Knicks still need one more win to reach the Finals. The streak is already rewriting records. and the margins—225 points in 10 straight games—turn that one win into something more than a statistical milestone. It becomes a finish line that looks suddenly within reach. not because it’s guaranteed. but because they’ve been showing up with uncommon force. again and again.
