John Stamos marked Bob Saget’s 70th birthday by posting what he says is the final photo he took with his Full House co-star, including a last image with Saget, Stamos’s wife Caitlin McHugh, and Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo.
John Stamos didn’t just scroll back through old memories—he returned to one night he still treats like it could never be replaced.
On Instagram. Stamos shared a series of one video and nine photos taken across their decades-long friendship. with the final picture being the one he calls the last. In that last photo, Stamos is pictured alongside his wife, Caitlin McHugh, Bob Saget, and Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo. Over the image, Stamos wrote simply: “LAST PIC.”.
The accompanying video shows Saget singing indoors. The photos that follow move through snapshots of their shared past—Saget playing the drums as Stamos wrapped his arms around him. the pair posing with Rihanna. Saget bowling in a robe. and Stamos and Saget performing together onstage on two separate occasions.
Stamos also set the post inside a personal milestone. In his caption, he wrote, “We used to throw each other great birthday parties. Your 70th today would’ve been epic! I miss you and love you.”
For Stamos, the meaning of that “last” label goes further than sentiment. In October 2023, while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he described seeing Saget for the final time. Speaking about the snapshot, Stamos said, “That was the last night that I saw him. You go to dinner, and you never think it’s going to be the last time you see them.”.
He remembered how the evening felt, adding, “He was calm, and he listened, and he was so sweet. We were there with these two girls, and we looked at each other like, ‘God. What did we do to get these beautiful wives?’ It was just such a beautiful night.”
Full House was where the public first watched their bond take shape. Stamos and Saget starred in the series from 1987 to 1995. They later reunited to reprise their roles in Netflix’s Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020. Saget died two years after that sequel series ended.
Saget was found dead in a Florida hotel in January 2022, with blunt head trauma from a fall later being ruled as the cause.
At Saget’s memorial. Stamos delivered a speech that carried the weight of a friendship turned into something sturdier—something that outlasted good days. and didn’t leave when life got hard. “When things came crashing down. the last person on Earth I ever imagined would be my rock became just that. ” the actor said.
He continued, “When I lost my parents, Bob was there for me like no other. He told dirty jokes and talked about himself as he hosted my dad’s funeral. He was there through divorces, deaths, despair, and dark days. He was there through love, marriage, a child and bright times. He was my lifeline,” he added.
