Hope, Chilliwack crews extract 70-year-old on Serpent’s Back

Hope Search and Rescue crews were called out on May 23 to help a 70-year woman who was experiencing a medical emergency on Serpent’s Back trail. “The team hiked to their location and assessed the subject, where it was decided that a long-line extraction was necessary,” the volunteer-based rescue team posted on their social media channels Saturday evening. They also thanked Chilliwack Search and Rescue’s Class D Fixed Line team and Valley Helicopters for helping with the extraction. “We understand emergencies can happen to anyone
and a call to SAR is always free,” they said. They also used the post to remind locals that they are currently recruiting “To anyone who thinks this looks like an exciting way to spend an afternoon, our application window is open for one more week. Please visit our website and fill out an application if you’d like to join our team! We’d love to hear from you.” To see video from the rescue and learn more about joining the team, click here.
