Drew Carey Calls Spencer Pratt a “Serial Scammer”

Drew Carey took to Threads on May 22 to blast Spencer Pratt over Pratt’s rising momentum in the Los Angeles mayor race, calling him a “serial scammer.” Pratt’s campaign, which he frames as independent, continues to draw support from high-profile conservative f
Drew Carey didn’t just disagree with Spencer Pratt’s run for mayor of Los Angeles—he went for the jugular.
On Friday. May 22. the comedian and game show host posted on Threads. writing. “Anyone who votes for. or endorses Spencer Prattfall for Mayor of LA needs to get their head out of their ass.” Carey added. “I understand being angry/unsatisfied. but at least get behind someone competent and not some serial scammer without a soul or moral compass.”.
He then escalated the attack: “F*** this guy already.”
The reaction was swift. Some fans praised Carey for what they called his blunt political take, while others condemned the rant.
Carey’s comments arrived as Pratt, 42, continues to gain momentum in the L.A. mayoral race. Pratt is challenging Democratic incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and is competing against other hopefuls, including Nithya Raman and Adam Miller.
Pratt, a Hills alum, says he’s running as an “independent community advocate,” but he is a registered Republican with ties to the conservative, right-wing and MAGA media spheres.
The attacks and defenses around Pratt have become part of the campaign’s noise. Yvette Nicole Brown. 54. reacted with disbelief that the reality TV villain could pull ahead. writing via Threads on Friday. April 24: “This nation is unserious and has learned nothing. 💔.” Brown also reposted a related message that referenced the connection between herself and Drew Carey.
Heather Ashley, host of the “Big Mad True Crime” podcast, responded with a sharp swipe, posting, “The is [sic] documentation of me never having to add Drew to the Spencer Pratt endorsement list,” alongside a checkmark emoji.
Other users pushed back in different directions too, arguing that Carey’s critique shouldn’t stop at personality. One social media user wrote, “You don’t have to hate him just to prove you’re liberal,” adding, “How about criticizing his policies?”
While Carey was busy drawing a line in public, Pratt’s support has also come from outside the usual orbit. Erika Kirk. the widow of late Turning Point USA cofounder Charlie Kirk. voiced support for Pratt’s campaign via X on Thursday. May 21. She wrote. “Regardless of the outcome of Spencer Pratt’s race. what he’s doing is authentically American. ” and continued. “See a problem. become a part of the solution.”.
Erika added that Pratt’s campaign ads are “unconventional,” calling that “the point; it’s refreshing.” She also said, “Instead of speaking like a career politician, he’s speaking as an American who sees and deeply understands how fragile the simple things in life are when leadership fails.”
Her post went further, framing Pratt as an example to follow: “This is what this country is all about. Citizens willing to step into the political arena. unafraid. and challenge a failing system. much like the one that has destroyed Los Angeles. I hope moments like this inspire more Americans to throw their names into the mix. run for office. get involved and stand up for what makes this country exceptional.”.
Pratt has reportedly drawn enough momentum that he is currently ranked second in the highly-contentious mayoral race after announcing his candidacy on the one-year anniversary of the deadly L.A. fires that destroyed the Palisades—and Pratt’s home—an anniversary tied directly to his political pitch and personal history.
The campaign also picked up support from President Donald Trump. On Wednesday. May 20. Trump. 79. told reporters. “I’d like to see him do well.” Trump called Pratt “a character. ” and said. “I assume he probably supports me. I heard he does [support me]. I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well.”.
For now. the race remains split between people who see Pratt as bold and disruptive—and those who think his past and public persona disqualify him. Drew Carey’s Threads rant made that conflict impossible to ignore. right as Pratt’s campaign continues to move forward amid growing attention and sharper divides.

Drew Carey calling him a scammer sounds about right.
Wait so Spencer Pratt is really running for mayor? I thought he was just like… TV drama. If Carey’s saying serial scammer then I’m gonna side with Carey, even though I don’t know anything about LA politics.
Anyone who votes for Pratt needs their head out their ass… but isn’t Drew Carey like a Democrat guy? lol. Also I saw Karen Bass mentioned so I’m assuming this is just another Bass vs whoever thing and all the ‘independent’ label is just marketing. Spencer Pratt never had a moral compass? that part I get.
The LA mayor race is already a mess and then you got reality TV people throwing shade. Spencer Pratt registered Republican, ties to MAGA media, cool cool, but Carey yelling ‘F*** this guy already’ doesn’t really prove anything. Also the article says he’s challenging Karen Bass so… is Bass the one losing momentum or is Pratt? I’m confused. Sounds like everybody’s mad and reposting stuff from Threads and acting like it’s evidence.
