Domino’s Pizza calls out Kratos-less God of War

After PlayStation’s State of Play showed 20 minutes of God of War: Laufey gameplay, fans pushed back hard at the spin-off’s focus on Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother, with Domino’s Pizza UK chiming in on X and Santa Monica answering back.
For years, God of War fans have clung to the same desire: more Kratos. So when Santa Monica capped off a big PlayStation State of Play with 20 minutes of uninterrupted footage from the new God of War title, God of War: Laufey, the excitement didn’t take long to curdle into backlash.
The spin-off will center on Laufey—also known as Faye—Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother. Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Faye, is set to return as the focus of the story. At the same time. the game’s framing has been a sticking point for many longtime players: the new footage makes it clear that this isn’t built to be a traditional Kratos-driven God of War follow-up.
That tension was only amplified by what the new game is actually about. Laufey takes place after Faye’s death, which happens in the opening moments of God of War (2018). Following her death. Faye is transported to another realm known as Everywhen. where gods from multiple mythologies go after their death. Kratos does briefly show up in the first footage. but his role is expected to be much smaller than in God of War games of the past.
Santa Monica has confirmed “more Kratos stories to tell” and said it’s working on another God of War game, even as the mysterious title remains under wraps.
Still, the immediate reaction was anything but subtle. Fans who yearn for more of Kratos’ story pushed back at the announcement of Laufey’s focus. The backlash then jumped platforms in a way nobody quite expects from a pizza brand. The official Domino’s Pizza UK account called out the studio on X. writing that a “God of War game with no Kratos = Pepperoni Passion with no Pepperoni.”.
Santa Monica’s official X account responded with a short, pointed reply: “ok thanks for the feedback, dominos pizza corporate account.”
The exchange landed on top of a backdrop that already had fans on edge. The God of War franchise’s last major chapter arrived with God of War: Ragnarok. released a few years after the 2018 installment won Game of the Year. and it seemed to bring Kratos’ journey to an end. That didn’t stop fans from demanding more. and it has been confirmed that a full remake of the original God of War trilogy is in the works at Santa Monica.
It’s unclear when that remake will be released. Assuming it’s still in early development, it likely won’t arrive anytime in the next few years. In the meantime, Laufey is positioned as the series’ next way of keeping the conversation—and the cravings—alive.
And even if Kratos isn’t the headline for Laufey. Santa Monica has made it clear the door isn’t closed. “More Kratos stories to tell” is part of the message. along with the promise of another God of War game still being kept secret. For now. the question for fans is simple: if Everywhen is where Faye’s story takes off. how much of Kratos’ world will Laufey actually leave room for?.

Wait Domino’s Pizza UK was involved?? That’s wild lol.
I don’t get why they’d make it without Kratos. Like isn’t the whole point the dude? If Kratos is only “brief” then this is basically not God of War, right.
Domino’s trolling on X is the only good part of this news. Also “Laufey” sounds like some random side character, not Kratos’ thing. If it’s after 2018 then why are they acting like it’s a big new chapter? Could’ve just did DLC or something.
This whole Everywhen realm thing sounds like they’re doing a multiverse thing, which is usually how games lose me. But I saw Kratos for a second so I’m holding out hope he’s secretly the main character the whole time. And the backlash is dumb anyway, companies can make whatever spin-off they want. Also who asked Domino’s to comment, like… do they have inside info??
