Dallas – For most people in North Texas, Friday is the kind of day you can actually plan around. Most of the region is expected to catch a break from the rain, with only a very limited chance of it.
Friday should bring drier conditions and temperatures that peak in the 80s. A few light, isolated showers could pop up during the day, but the vast majority of North Texas is expected to remain dry.
That calm doesn’t last. The weather pattern shifts Friday night as an atmospheric disturbance moves into the area. From there, the holiday weekend gets more unpredictable: scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, with that activity potentially lingering into Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon and evening bring another round of scattered storms. Forecasters stress that not everyone will see rain every day. but thunderstorms are possible somewhere in North Texas each day of the weekend. The overall threat of severe weather remains low, but a few storms could still produce hail and gusty winds.
With Memorial Day plans on the line—picnics, outdoor events, and travel—forecasters are urging residents to stay weather aware. For anyone on the water. the guidance is direct: boaters should be prepared to seek shelter immediately if a storm approaches. Experts also recommend keeping a portable weather radio on board to monitor changing conditions.
By Sunday through Tuesday, rain chances drop to a lower coverage period. The weekend may still include thunder in parts of the region, but the forecast points toward fewer disruptions once the holiday stretches into next week.

So basically it might rain? great.
Why do they always say “scattered” like that helps anyone. I got family driving in and now I’m just stuck refreshing the weather app all day. Hope it stays low key.
“Severe threat remains low” but they still talking about hail and gusty winds like cmon. If it’s low then why warn boaters to seek shelter immediately, that sounds like severe to me.
I swear every Memorial Day weekend in Dallas is the same story. Light showers, then storms, then everybody’s calendar is ruined. Also does anyone know if the tornado chances are included or they just skip that part and call it “thunder”?
