Crow-Armstrong’s vulgar reply sparks fan fury in Chicago

Crow-Armstrong’s vulgar – Pete Crow-Armstrong’s frustration after a missed catch turned into a heated exchange with a female fan during the Cubs’ game against the White Sox, and the backlash followed him into the postgame. The Cubs ultimately fell 9-8 to their city rivals.

A missed catch with the game on the line spiraled into a public shouting match Sunday, and Pete Crow-Armstrong’s response to a female fan landed hard.

In the bottom of the fifth inning of the Chicago Cubs’ matchup with their city rivals. the White Sox fired a ball toward Crow-Armstrong in right-center field.. The 24-year-old sprinted over and got to the chance, but he couldn’t secure it in the air.. The ball escaped and Miguel Vargas of the White Sox used the moment to pull the score level at 4-4.

As play moved on, the focus shifted to the fence. On the opposite side of where Crow-Armstrong had failed to make the catch, a female fan wearing a White Sox hat was captured yelling abuse from just a few yards away. Video showed her shouting “you suck” at him and giving a thumbs-down gesture.

Crow-Armstrong, who had just come up empty on a pivotal play, reacted immediately. He screamed back “suck my f***ing d*** b****” before walking back toward the field.

The fan later claimed in a now-deleted post on X that she was attending an engagement party in the ground-level seats. That explanation did little to cool the moment. It also didn’t match the frustration Crow-Armstrong carried in the aftermath of the game, where the Cubs had an especially tough day.

Chicago lost 9-8 to the White Sox, and Crow-Armstrong addressed the exchange after the final out. When asked what happened, he replied: “Some lady decided to start talking s*** and I felt the need to say it back.”

Crow-Armstrong’s contract status only added to the scrutiny around the incident. The All-Star earlier this year signed a six-year, $115m deal with the Cubs.

The temper behind the scene also isn’t new.. Earlier this season, Crow-Armstrong became involved in another verbal run-in with fans tied to Los Angeles Dodgers supporters.. He said: “It’s just an incredible city.. The people are great.. They give a s***.” He added: “They aren’t just baseball fans who go to the game like Dodgers fans to take pictures and whatever.. They are paying attention.. They care.”

For Sunday, the timing couldn’t have been worse for the Cubs. Crow-Armstrong’s missed catch helped Vargas tie the game at 4-4, and the eruption with the fan happened right after, while the Cubs ultimately couldn’t close out a narrow city-rival matchup.

The pattern in the evening is clear in the chain of events described: Crow-Armstrong failed to secure the ball that allowed Miguel Vargas to tie the game at 4-4. and almost immediately afterward a fan voiced direct criticism from near the fence. prompting Crow-Armstrong to shout back during the same stretch of play.

The Cubs have not publicly addressed the specific exchange in the account provided, though the team was contacted for comment.
