Cobb County Man Arrested After Allegedly Groping Women Across Three Retail Stores in Ten Minutes

A 35-year-old man is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail following a rapid sequence of alleged sexual batteries that unfolded across three retail businesses in Austell within a span of roughly 10 minutes, according to local police and court records.

Cobb County police arrested Orlandus Sims last Wednesday following the string of reported incidents along the East-West Connector. Investigators established that the sequence of events began shortly after 7 p.m. at a local Panera Bread restaurant. According to authorities, a woman was sitting on a bench inside the establishment when Sims approached and grabbed and squeezed her breast.

Court records indicate that Sims then left the restaurant and entered a neighboring Target store. While inside, investigators said he rode a motorized scooter cart and approached another woman, grabbing her behind without her consent. Following that incident, police stated that Sims walked immediately to a nearby T.J. Maxx store, where he spotted a woman browsing in an aisle, walked up behind her, and intentionally grabbed and squeezed her bottom.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the shopping center while the spree was ongoing or immediately afterward. When police attempted to detain Sims, he tried to run from the scene. Officers pursued him, caught up with him, and successfully took him into custody.

The arrest involved an additional security complication during transport. According to police, while officers were moving Sims, he managed to slip out of his handcuffs, prompting an additional charge of obstruction of law enforcement.

Sims was booked into the Cobb County Jail, where he faces charges of sexual battery and obstruction. Court records show he is being held without bond. Officials have not yet confirmed whether Sims has retained legal representation or when he is scheduled to make his initial court appearance.

The rapid-fire succession of incidents within a commercial shopping plaza left local shoppers expressing shock and concern over public safety. Shopper Sinndy Gomez voiced unease regarding public spaces, noting the unsettling nature of the attacks in an area where people generally feel comfortable visiting retail stores.

Other shoppers emphasized the need for heightened personal awareness. Brandon Peeples called the actions inappropriate and expressed frustration that women must navigate such concerns in public settings. Tiffiney Gibson echoed those sentiments, highlighting the necessity of constant vigilance and stating that individuals must watch their surroundings regardless of where they go.

Hafiz Rahman suggested that the suspect requires intervention and removal from the community to address underlying behavioral issues before potentially reintegrating into society.

Authorities continue to review court documents and police reports as the legal process moves forward.
