Celia Holman Lee fears Alzheimer’s after retirement

Celia Holman Lee has admitted she has fears about being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The modelling legend has the disease in the family, and she fears if she stops working she might develop it. Celia’s father and one of her brothers suffered with Alzheimer’s and dementia . “I work hard,” she said. “I keep my mind active. I would say to any woman out there, if you retire. the mind is everything. I watched one of my brothers. Leonard had very bad Alzheimer’s and dementia.

He was amazing. My father, Jackie, had it as well.” Speaking to Evoke, she confirmed that the fears of not keeping her mind active with work is one of the reasons she has yet to retire. “I’d say it is,” she said. “I have to because I know it is in the family. It’s not like I’m running around the place. My daughter-in-law runs the agency now but I am at everything. I love it and I love people. “I do honestly feel keep your

shoulders back and down, look after your appearance and keep active and you’ll keep going.” The fear stems from her brother Leonard’s decline after he retired from work. “His wife Dolores told me – and it frightens me sometimes – and she said to me he had retired, he went into town and he rang her and he said ‘I don’t know where I am’,” she recalled. “That was the beginning of it. He was 72 or 73 when he died. “I just don’t want

to get any form of dementia because I have seen it and I don’t want to get it. I’ll take anything else to be honest but I won’t take that because it is a very, very cruel disease.” She added: “But I love working and I love people. I love being out there. I enjoy it. I love dressing up because I’ve been doing it since I was 15. I know nothing else.” Want to see more of the stories you love from RSVP ?
