Braves Designate Chadwick Tromp Ahead of Blue Jays Sweep

Braves designate – Atlanta made several roster moves ahead of Thursday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, including designating catcher Chadwick Tromp for assignment after a slow start this season.
By the time the Braves turned their attention to Thursday’s matchup at Truist Park, the roster card had already started to change.

Ahead of Thursday’s game, the Braves announced multiple roster moves. The team selected C Austin Wynns to the major league roster and designated C Chadwick Tromp for assignment. Atlanta also selected OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to the major league roster and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To create space on the 40-man roster, the club transferred C Sean Murphy to the 60-day injured list.
For Tromp, the numbers this season have been modest. He has been batting .200 with five hits, three RBI’s, and one run across 12 games.
The change also lands in a broader career arc. Tromp spent the first two seasons of his career with the San Francisco Giants, then spent part of four seasons with the Braves before a brief stint with the Baltimore Orioles. The 31-year-old rejoined Atlanta this year.
Across 79 career games over seven seasons, Tromp is batting .218 with 43 hits, six home runs, 26 RBI’s, and 19 runs. Now, with Thursday approaching and the Braves aiming to carry their recent win into a sweep, he’ll have to wait to see where—if anywhere—Atlanta’s next roster construction leads.
