An appeal has been issued after vandals targeted the green at a Donegal golf club over the weekend. Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club has appealed for the public’s help after a “deliberate act of vandalism” left one of its greens badly damaged. Club officials say the 14th green was targeted sometime between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning when one or more individuals deliberately struck iron shots from the putting surface, gouging several deep divots into the carefully maintained green. The incident has sparked anger and
disappointment among members, with the club describing the damage as “completely unacceptable.” The green is now expected to require significant repair work, affecting both members and visitors who use the popular course. In a statement, the club said: “It is extremely disappointing to report that serious damage has been caused to the 14th green at Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club. “Our greens require countless hours of work from our dedicated greens staff and volunteers, and damage like this has a direct impact on every member
and visitor who plays the course.” An appeal has now been issued for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area over the weekend to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact a member of the club council in confidence. The club added: “We all have a responsibility to respect and protect our golf course.
