A$AP Rocky Targets First Grammy With ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ Comeback Campaign

American rapper A$AP Rocky is campaigning for his first career Grammy Award following the release of his long-awaited album, Don’t Be Dumb.
American rapper A$AP Rocky is making an ambitious bid for the first Grammy Award of his career, placing his long-awaited album Don’t Be Dumb at the center of an awards campaign that could deliver a defining milestone for one of hip-hop’s most influential creative figures. The Harlem-born musician, whose career has increasingly expanded into fashion, filmmaking, and entrepreneurship, revealed that winning a Grammy was a deliberate ambition behind the making of his latest record.
Released in January, Don’t Be Dumb ended an eight-year wait for a new studio album and debuted at the top of the charts, reaffirming his commercial appeal. Speaking in a recent interview, Rocky stated that recognition from the Recording Academy would represent a significant validation of the work he invested in the project. The declaration comes as the Recording Academy’s first round of voting for the 2027 Grammy Awards gets under way, placing his comeback project among the recordings being considered for nominations.

Among the recordings submitted for consideration is “Punk Rocky,” a track whose awards campaign extends beyond traditional rap categories. The song has been submitted for Record of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Alternative Music Performance, while Don’t Be Dumb has been entered for consideration in Album of the Year and Best Rap Album. These are submissions rather than confirmed nominations, with voters still determining which recordings will advance to the official shortlist ahead of the November 16 nominations announcement.
Despite his commercial success and cultural influence, Rocky has yet to win a Grammy Award, having received three previous nominations in 2014, 2016, and 2025. His renewed emphasis on music is supported by an international touring program, including upcoming arena performances in Australia and New Zealand. Official voting timelines point toward final-round voting in December and January, culminating in the Grammy Awards ceremony scheduled for February 7, 2027.
