A Kiriakis Nightmare: Days of Our Lives Finally Revealed Who’s Buying the Family Estate!
For a couple weeks now, Days of Our Lives‘ Xander has been talking about the mysterious buyer set to swoop in and snap up the Kiriakis estate as they enter into bankruptcy. Up until Monday, we hadn’t learned a whole lot about him other than the fact that he’s an eccentric Italian billionaire and was not EJ.
But then, Xander finally gave us a name, and now we’re more intrigued than ever! Because if Philip’s plan doesn’t work and he doesn’t win the $200 million in his poker game, then Dominic Marino is set to be the newest, obscenely wealthy owner of the Kiriakis manse!

So… who is he? Days of Our Lives has never had anyone show up in Salem by that name before, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t connected to the town or its residents!
Who Is Dominic Marino?
The first thing we noticed was that this isn’t the first time someone with that last name has been in town. In fact, the last time a Marino was in Salem, they were working for Stefano! We’re talking, of course, about Mayor Anthony Marino, who was on the baddie’s payroll back in 2008. Stefano was perfectly happy to let the mayor run roughshod over then-police commissioner Abe, but when Marino humiliated Lexie along with her husband, his boss cut ties.

And when Anthony decided to confront Stefano, The Phoenix cut even more! An assassin took the mayor out and that was the end of that. Is it coincidence that someone else with the same last name is planning on moving to Salem just after Lexie returned to life? (And death.) Maybe the deceased mayor had family with deep pockets looking for revenge against the surviving DiMeras.
If we want to get a little more liberal with the name, Kate, at one point, did try seducing and manipulating Italian mob boss Vincent Moroni into killing Victor and spying on Sami and Abe’s son, Brandon Walker. That also ended tragically, with Vincent taking his own life after his beloved daughter, Angela, took a bullet he’d meant for Brandon.

The name’s not the same, but maybe Vincent had family looking to take advantage of the Kiriakis’ misfortune and boot them out of their own house.
But if we’re going with the idea that the name is an alias (despite Xander saying he checked into the guy and everything being on the up and up), what if his true identity is a bit closer to home? What if it’s Sami’s own fiancé, Dante Vitali! All we really know of him is that he’s a member of the Vitali crime family (extended, of course) and lives in Italy!

Why in the world would Days of Our Lives make him of all people Sami’s fiancé unless the show had plans for him? But why would he be buying an estate in Salem under an assumed name? And that leads us to our final thought.
Is Anthony Marino a DiMera?
If eccentric billionaire Dominic Marino is actually a DiMera, that would be Xander, Maggie, Philip and the rest of the family’s worst nightmare!
Yes, Xander said he checked the guy’s credentials and he didn’t have ties to EJ or his family. But how deeply did he check? Marino could be descended from the DiMeras on his mother’s side, which would be why he lost the name. After all, Stefano, as EJ pointed out to Cat recently, was born in Italy. And he was the seventh son of the seventh son. That means he had plenty of brothers who likely had their own families back in Italy.

The DiMeras are from Italy, the chess set mystery is leading Belle and Chad to Italy on behalf of John and Marlena, and the Kiriakis estate buyer is an Italian billionaire. What are we betting that this is all tied together somehow? Heck, if that’s the case, we could see why even EJ seemed surprised by the news. When was the last time Stefano’s offspring even mentioned any other family?
